'Satan Takes a Holiday' hit by CRTC (censorship) complaints

Help keep metal on the airwaves! Send a rebuttal to the CRTC (equivalent of the FCC in Canada) complaint received by 'Satan Takes a Holiday' and metal radio hostess, Miss Barbrafisch.

From Miss Barbrafisch:
"This generic letter is basically a support letter of the radio station in general for the public hearing regarding our license renewal. This one has to arrive by today; Monday, April 12, so please just copy, paste, sign and send to: cklnhearing@gmail.com . If you could include your mailing address too, that would be helpful, but not necessary."

SAMPLE LETTER:
To Whom It May Concern:

I believe CKLN is a valuable resource for information and music not readily available through mainstream media channels. I especially appreciate the coverage of underground metal music and community news provided by "Satan Takes A Holiday", hosted by Miss Barbrafisch weekly on Saturday nights.

I look forward to the continuation of this adventurous programming for years to come.

Sincerely,

[your name!]

New Store finally set up!

For those of you who haven't had a chance to make it by in the last week, you can view photos of the new store on Facebook.

Not only is the sales floor double the space of our previous location, our display window is colossus. We're excited to work on an upcoming Halloween display!

Additionally, for those who haven't heard; Children of Bodom, Skeletonwich and The Black Dahlia Murder will be playing Elements Nightclub in Kitchener on September 25th. We'll be working on some sort of a deal for attendees who'd like to drop a few bucks before or after the show. Stay tuned to the retail shop for more info.

Hopefully the roadwork will be completed by then! Talk about a downer; opening a new store only to have the road shredded less than a week later. Kitchener, WTF are you doing!

New Catacombs Location!

We took possession of the new building on Friday. Saying it's huge, is an understatement. We've started moving our backend stuff, but the actual store won't be completely moved until next Saturday night.

We will still be open during our normal hours on Saturday, September 5th; so be sure to stop by and pick up the last bits of merch you'll need. We may have to temporarily close for a few days while we set up shop at the new location. (Not completely decided on that yet, so keep checking one of our many online profiles for confirmation before trekking to the store).

We've created a Facebook fanpage, so don't forget to add yourself to get an update in your news feed anytime we have a sale or news about the store: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kitchener-ON/Catacombs-Band-Merch/117810224014

New Store in September

The Catacombs retail shop is expanding into a new store on King Street in downtown Kitchener, across the street from the Children's Museum.

The new shop is nearly double the square footage of our current store on Queen Street.

We'll be located at Queen Street location until all of our merch is loaded into the new store, so stay tuned.

Rectal Carnage Merch

Kitchener locals Rectal Carnage now have merchandise available at the catacombs!

Rectal Carnage play a style of thrash / skate punk that is unmistakably mixing their roots of metal & punk into one solid slab of crossover metal. You can take a listen at their MySpace, or become a fan at Facebook.

Rectal Carnage have some pretty killer punk style canvas patches with the "Weapons of Ass Destruction" ep cover, RC back patches and logo tees.

You can also catch Rectal Carnage live July 18th at Metal Night in Kitchener, at the Circus Room.

Mixed Bag

This week we've had a mixed bag of new stuff showing up.

We now carry select designs from the VEXY clothing line (Vexy is a clothing label geared towards the emo/goth crowd with dresses, corsets, jackets, tops, etc.) and will be stocking more over the coming weeks.

We also got some new girlie and men's tees from Guelph melodic metal band, Ravenshade.
You can listen to Ravenshade at their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ravenshademusic

On the subject of metal, we also now carry merch from technical death metal band Cyagha; the bands' first full-length CD: "Steps of Descent" and a t-shirt with the killer artwork of John Coulthart, who's done work for the Magic: The Gathering card series, Cradle of Filth and Hawkwind.

Additionally, you can also find some extra heavy stuff for fans of Behemoth and Satyricon: black/thrash-inspired death metal!
From the likes of:
The Day of the Beast and Withershin (who's album was recorded by Devon of Marduk!)

Also new this week:
AC/DC - Angus Guitar Shirt
Bon Jovi - Jon Bon Jovi Shirt
Bullet for My Valentine - Group Shirt
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast Shirt
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown Shirt
new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles designs
Morbid Angel - Oldschool Group Flag
Various goth-inspired flags from Victoria Frances and Anne Stokes
Type O Negative - 13 Flag

... just to name a few. Hundreds more have been added to the racks, so stop in before they sell out. A lot of the t-shirt designs received this week are limited and will not be restocked!
